The Missing Ingredient
Any recipe can be bitter and tasteless without the proper ingredients. You may have tried lots of other things, but don’t forget the most important ingredient in your life, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again three days later, a supernatural feat, but here is the best part; Jesus invites you to follow Him throughout your life and He offers you an abundant life. He said: “…I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)
Wouldn’t you agree that anyone who died and rose again from the grave would be worth following? First of all, everyone must understand that we are all sinners. We have all done things that have offended God and we are all lost and destined for a very real Hell without Christ.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23) “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a)
But you don’t have to be the one to pay for your sins because Jesus Christ has made arrangements to give you freedom from your sins and has purchased a place for you in heaven.
“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
(Romans 6:23b)
Our job is simply to accept what Christ has done for us, and to receive His special gift. Jesus loves each and every one of us very much and has a special plan for each of our lives.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
ii
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Are you ready now to accept Christ as your savior? This change is called many different things by different people; accepting Christ, being born again, getting saved, becoming a Christian, but they all mean the same thing. Your Christian journey begins with putting your faith and trust in what Jesus Christ has done for you (died on the cross and rose again to pay for your sins, purchase your place in heaven and give you an abundant life here on earth). If you are ready to do this then just say a simple prayer in your own words indicating that you know that you are a sinner and can’t get to heaven on your own, asking him to forgive you for those sins and telling Him that you accept His free gift of heaven and that you are willing to turn control of your life over to Him from this point forward.
