This one has been a family favorite for a very long time. It was our most requested dish for Christmas morning breakfast.
2 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons baking powder 1⁄2 cup (1 stick) butter
11⁄3 cups milk
2 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
For topping:
1⁄2 cup flour
1⁄2 cup granulated sugar 1⁄4 cup butter softened 2 teaspoons cinnamon
1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
2. Sift together flour, sugar, and baking powder, cut in butter.
3. Add milk and egg; mix only until ingredients are moistened.
4. Fold in nuts.
5. Pour into greased 9 x13 inch pan.
6. Combine flour, sugar, butter and cinnamon; sprinkle over batter. You can make this batter ahead of time; at this point, cover it with foil or plastic and refrigerate until ready to bake and serve.

**Can easily be halved and baked in 8 x 8 inch square pan.
